What is blog and what is blogging, difference between blog and website, do we need a website for blogging, blog structure and blog topics, can we earn from blogging, like this there are many questions in our mind.

Thinking to start a blog is a great idea. But we need to explore a lot of factors before starting a blog. Any how I am here to educate on the blog and other related things. Let us start with the blog history.

History of Blogs

In olden days people used to write their daily activities in the books call diaries. They learn the lessons which they written in the diaries and implement to live better day by day.

In mid 90s people used to write online diaries and journals. The Blogs evolved from this online diaries and journals. Prior to the World Wide Web, individuals created content for themselves or others and stored that content on computers that were connected to the local networks.

At the stage of Internet made available to the people. Slowly people are started creating personal web pages online to publish regular updates about their personal lives, thoughts, and social commentary.

The term web log was first used during the late 90s, which later became weblog, then ‘we blog’, and finally just ‘blog’.

The growing number of such web pages, several tools started to appear, which made it easier for users to create online journals and blogs. These tools helped popularize blogging and made the technology accessible to non-technical users.

What is a Blog?

A blog (weblog) is an online journal or informational website displaying information in the reverse chronological order, with latest posts appearing first and older will be at last. It is a platform where a writer or even a group of writers share their knowledge on an individual subject.

The content of a blog typically includes text, pictures with Alt Attributes, infographic, videos, animated GIFs and even scans from old physical offline diaries or journals and other hard copy documents.

Blog content is often referred to as entries or “blog posts”.

Since a blog can be used for personal use, sharing information with an exclusive group or to engage the public, a blog owner can set their blog for private or public access.

Like many new innovations on the Internet, many entrepreneurs saw marketing potential in having a blog, and blogging took the pace from there. Not only can a blog be used for marketing, but also, a blog can be a home business in and of itself. 

Definition of Blog Related Terms

Blog – An online journal or diary that is available on the Internet.

Blogger – An individual who is the blog owner. The person who keeps the blog alive (posting new posts, sharing the knowledge, sharing the latest news, information, case studies, opinions, etc…)

Blog Post – An article or writing that is inside the blog. For example, the article you are currently reading is a “blog post” that is written for my blog.

Blogging – the action of maintaining or writing a blog – While blogging, I’m able to share information that I feel is important, helpful or interesting for others.

What is the purpose of a Blog?

There are many reasons for starting a blog. The top two reasons for the blogs are making money online and promoting the business.

Blogging for business improvement, getting projects, or anything else that might bring you the business to make money has a very straightforward purpose – to rank your website higher in Google SERPs (increase your visibility) by implementing digital marketing techniques.

For any business, the objective is to motivate/impress the customers to keep buying the products and services. As a new business, we need the help of blogging to promote the brand. Without blogging and proper digital marketing, the website would remain invisible, whereas running a blog makes you searchable and competitive.

The main purpose of a blog is to connect you to the relevant audience and potential customers. Another one is to boost your organic traffic and send quality leads to your website.
